Tales from a Labrador Pilot is a collection of stories and poems Benny has put together and he hopes.readers will enjoy reading each and every one. There are stories about flying, as well as stories about past adventures, and also lots of photographs.
Benny Powell was born and raised in Labrador. He grew up and became a captain with Air Labrador, and he now lives in the town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay with his family. When he was growing up, Benny spent his winters in Charlottetown in Southern Labrador and moved from there to Square Islands, thirteen miles east of Charlottetown, every summer.
Benny is the second youngest of nine children born to the late Ben and Effie (Campbell) Powell. His mother, a Labrador native, was one of the seven beautiful daughters of Alex Campbell. His father was born in Carbonear, Conception Bay, and went to Labrador to live and work at age fifteen. His father was the founder of the community of Charlottetown, and the author of nineteen published books. Benny says seeing what his father did it’s only natural for him to write books too.
Tales from a Labrador Pilot is Benny’s third book. His first book was the very popular Tales from Labrador. His second was the delightful children’s book The Adventures of Little Benny: Growing up in Labrador, featuring original paintings by Bruce Pardy from Cartwright, Labrador.
